Our character theory is: "A character leaves a first impression on you that helps the reader get to know the character better"
Character Theory Evidence:
1) In the story "Thirteen and a Half" by Rachel Vail, the narrator`s friend Ashley tells us that she is constantly imaging that she can fly. she also tells us that when she grows up she wants to be "A veterinarian and a movie star and travel all over the world very glamorously and live life to the hilt". This shows how we get the first impression about Ashley and what she wants to do when she grows up. She has a bird named Sweet Pea, and since she imagines flying she loves birds. This evidence helps the reader get to know her better.
2) In the short story "Squid Girl", the main character Sierra who is also a round character leaves a strong first impression that she hates nature and loves shopping at the mall. She likes it a lot more then being outside and doing nature stuff like hiking. This evidence helps the reader get to know the character better.
3) The short story called "In Your Hat" has evidence that proves that theory. The first impression that the character Dennis gives the reader is that he is very lazy. He reflects that "...after four years of handing in the same book report that I'd written in seventh grade, the book report cops finally caught up to me." That shows that Dennis is very lazy and that he doesn't care about doing schoolwork. This evidence also helps the reader get to know the character better.
4) " In the story "In Your Hat" one piece of evidence that supports our theory is when he says "Hey, good lookin" it shows how desperate he is and that he doesn't even know how to speak and flirt with a girl. This helps the reader know that the character is really desperate. That is why this evidence helps the reader to get to know the character better.
